I am only looking for the Toyota Yaris HYBRID — this means the model with the Hybrid Electric fuel type and E-CVT automatic gearbox. I am NOT interested in the petrol Yaris with MultiMode or Multidrive S gearbox. If your Yaris is petrol automatic, please check the gearbox type before contacting me. If it says MultiMode or Multidrive S anywhere, I cannot buy it.

  • Fuel type: Hybrid Electric — the E-CVT gearbox is a proper smooth automatic with no clutch
  • Budget: up to £5,000
  • Full service history
  • Valid MOT
  • V5C present
  • Two keys
  • No Cat N or Cat S
  • UK supplied only — not a Japanese import or Toyota Vitz
  • Not an ex-taxi or private hire vehicle
  • Consistent mileage throughout MOT history

What I Will Not Buy

  • Toyota Yaris with MultiMode or Multidrive S gearbox — these are petrol models and NOT proper automatics
  • Any Yaris with a mileage discrepancy in the MOT history
  • Toyota Vitz — this is a Japanese import version of the Yaris and I will not consider it
  • Any car with outstanding finance
  • Any car written off as Cat N, S, D or C
  • Any car with a recurring engine warning light
  • Any car used as a taxi or private hire
  • Any car with significant underbody corrosion — the Yaris Hybrid is known to develop corrosion on the front suspension arms and coil springs on older examples, so please be honest about this
  • Any car with only one key
  • Any car with expired MOT

How to tell if your Yaris is the Hybrid

Look at your V5C logbook. The fuel type should say Hybrid Electric. The gear selector in the car will have P, R, N, B and D positions and will look like a small joystick or push-button panel — not a traditional gear lever. The car will also have a small battery gauge on the dashboard and will sometimes run in silent electric-only mode at low speeds. If your car makes normal engine noise from the moment you start it and has a traditional thin gear lever with only R, N, D, it is a petrol MultiMode and I cannot buy it.
